I've found 54!!
of my artworks offered as free downloads on the infamous vk.com site..There's a lovely wall with my art -titles removed and no links to my sites- where one can click and download: vk.com/aphoticzone?z=album-307…
Needless to say that -apart from the fact that they did choose my best works, good taste people ha!- i would like to punch them hard on the face. (::update:: i've realized that there are plenty of other albums from the same user/company(?) vk.com/cvartira
on the site, some containing well known artworks from dA artists, titles removed, and of course the free download button is always present..)Online Art theft
, we all know, is prevalent nowadays, and the reason for this journal is not to say, "yeah it sucks" or "when you post online it's bound to happen" , but to see if there are ways to hold to our basic rights
of safeguarding our work. And to be honest, it's not as much a matter of money, if any, that these -or any other- creeps may get out of my work, but mostly the blood, sweat and tears that went into it (literally) that are not being respected.dA
is a great community, but it exists because we
make it so..we post here, we interact here, we inspire and get inspired. dA
something about us in return.. A very basic tool that the dA developers may want to look at, is the well known block right-click downloads
. C'mon people, you have tweaked the site so many times throughout the years, and yet this simple thing has not been considered or implemented! It works
on other sites. Just try to download anything from : 1x.com/
and see what happens: a little box comes up saying "This Photo Is Copyrighted" So simple, so effective!
for dA to do the same!
I'd love to see some feedback - i'm doing some travel(l)ing at the moment, but i always find the time to check on things here.
(Also, thanks to
whose recent journals are bringing awareness to this issue.)
